Frequently Asked Questions
My coaching is not a checklist or task list. It’s a relationship where your teen learns who they are, why their choices matter, and how to express that truth through the college process.
Together, we explore identity, experiences, values, and direction — and then translate that clarity into decisions, essays, and applications they can stand behind with confidence.
The deliverable isn’t an application. It’s a student who knows themselves well enough to choose a college where they will thrive.
Most admissions services focus on polishing a résumé. I focus on discovering a story — not as a marketing tactic, but as something a young person can recognize as true.
Colleges don’t want perfection; they want coherence. My work helps students understand who they are becoming, and then express that identity through choices, essays, and applications that feel inevitable rather than strategic.
Not at all. I work with real teenagers — curious, thoughtful, talented, conflicted, late-blooming, artistic, academic, athletic, unsure, unconventional, nonlinear.
Some have high GPAs; others are still figuring things out. Identity doesn’t come with prerequisites.
If your teen feels more like a developing human being than a polished brand, you are in the right place. What matters most is finding the right college fit for each individual student, regardless of their GPA.
The best time to start is when your teen is curious, not panicked.
Some families begin freshman or sophomore year to build clarity before the pressure hits; others begin junior or senior year when identity has developed and needs articulation.
There is no “right” entry point — only the point at which support would reduce anxiety and create direction. If you’re unsure, schedule a conversation and we’ll explore what makes sense.
Meetings are paced around your teen’s developmental needs and the rhythm of the admissions process. Some weeks require more touch-points, others less.
We move intentionally — not reactively — so momentum feels grounded rather than rushed.
Motivation is rarely the real issue. Teens resist processes that feel disconnected from who they are. Once they see meaning in their experiences and understand how identity connects to direction, motivation follows naturally.
My work doesn’t push teens — it helps them recognize themselves.
That said, the student does need to be willing to engage in the process. If they're actively resistant, it may not be the right time.
Yes. Many do. Atypical thinkers often have powerful stories once someone helps them understand how their minds work. This process honors individuality — not conformity — and supports students whose brilliance may not look conventional on paper.
I am based in the Greater Boston area, butI work with families virtually across the country. The work is relational, reflective, and conversation-based — geography doesn’t limit connection.
A very small number each application cycle. This is not a volume-based service. Depth requires presence, attention, and continuity — none of which can be mass-produced.
I work closely with each family so that this process becomes meaningful, not mechanical.
The investment depends on the level of support a student needs, and whether we are starting early in high school, or later.
Most families work with me for $6,000–$12
,000 over the course of the admissions journey, which can sometime be 2+ years of working together!
This is not a transactional program — it’s a highly personalized relationship that helps your teen discover who they are, articulate their story, and make decisions they can stand behind.
College is expensive. Confusion is even more costly. This work helps ensure your teen chooses a path that aligns with who they are — not a decision they’ll spend years undoing.
If you’re exploring whether this is right for you, the first step is a conversation.
Yes. Families often choose to spread the investment over time. I’m happy to explore a structure that supports your situation without adding financial pressure to an already emotional season.
Over 20 years, my students have been accepted to a wide range of excellent colleges, from small liberal arts schools to large state universities to highly selective institutions.
More importantly, my students attend colleges where they're thriving—because we focus on fit, not just prestige. Success isn't just about getting in; it's about finding the right place.
While I cant' say that 100% of students get into their top-choice school (and anyone who makes that claim is lying), I will say that the percentage is very high, which is why the majority of my families come from referrals.
On the one hand, this is a result driven service, and on the other success isn’t measured by acceptance letters alone.
It’s measured by whether a student chooses a college where they can belong, thrive, and continue becoming themselves. Families consistently tell me their teens leave this process more confident, more self-aware, and better prepared for adulthood.
That is the real outcome. No ethical consultant can guarantee admission to specific schools, as admissions decisions are made by the colleges themselves.
What I do guarantee is that we'll create the strongest possible applications, develop a strategic college list with a range of options, and find schools where your student will genuinely thrive.
You’ll share what’s happening for your teen, what you’re hoping to change, and what’s keeping you up at night. I’ll listen, ask thoughtful questions, and reflect what I see. If it feels like the right partnership, we’ll explore next steps. If not, you’ll leave with clarity — not pressure.
The easiest next step is a conversation. There’s no obligation, no sales pitch, and no assumptions — just space to understand your teen and whether this work aligns with your needs.
